Turkey Meatballs {recipe}

INGREDIENTS FOR MEATBALLS

1.5 lbs ground turkey

1/2 onion, diced

3 baby bells, diced

1 tbsp garlic, minced

2 tbsp basil paste (or chopped basil leaves)

1 handful parmesan cheese, grated

1 handful almond flour

all purpose seasoning

INGREDIENTS FOR SEMI-HOMEMADE SAUCE

1 jar of favorite pasta sauce

3 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp garlic, minced

2 tbsp basil paste (or chopped basil leaves)

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 375.

2. In a large bowl, season ground turkey will all purpose seasoning. Add in onions, baby bells, and garlic and mix to combine. Add in basil paste, parmesan cheese, and almond flour. Season again if desired and mix again with hands until well combined.

3. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray and using a ice cream scooper scoop meatballs onto sheet pan.

4. Bake for 30-35 minutes.

5. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over low-medium heat. Add in garlic an any left over onions and peppers that you didn't use in the meatballs. Sauté for 5 minutes.

6. Once the garlic is fragrant add the jar of sauce to the pan and stir well.

7. Season (if desired) and add basil paste. Mix well. (You can also add a little more olive oil to the sauce if desired.)

8. After the meatballs have finished cooking in the oven, remove and add the meatballs directly to the warmed sauce on the stove. Let them continue to cook in the sauce for another 5-7 minutes before you serve.
