With powerful, yet soothing country tones, Mallary Hope gives us an open invitation into self discovery, falling hopelessly into Christ, and a beautiful legacy to her own children with her new album “Out of My Hands.”
I had the pleasure of meeting Mallary Hope at a holiday event in Nashville. Prior to that event I had heard her single “Me” on the radio several times and it was so nice to put a voice to a face. Eight months pregnant and glowing, Mallary gifted us her talent not only in song, but also in complete presence. While I could tell you about her spirit and the way she let us experience her playful nature as if we were all having a girls night out, what really stuck out to me was her role as a mom. She included her very young children fully in the event. They weren’t stuck away in a corner; no many times they were front and center sharing the stage (and microphone) with her and her pianist.

Since following Mallary on Instagram I have been increasingly inspired by her life. This wife, and mother of 3 is a mega hustler, not only in the recording studio and on her radio tour, but also at home with her beautiful children. You get the sense that she is not only DOING it all, she is EMBRACING it all. I feel that is a lesson all mothers could use from time to time.
Naturally when I was asked to review her new album “Out of My Hands” I dove in head first knowing there would be food for my soul. Weaved throughout the tracks I found so much hope and confidence in the lyrics. You can instantly tell Mallary herself went on an internal journey through the process of putting this album together. There are beautiful love songs to Christ, like “Saving Me” and “3:16” and emotional confidence boosters, like “Me” and “Looking Back at Me.”
The radio single "Me" is an anthem of sorts. I think we have all been in a place where we have doubted who we are, maybe even doubted our purpose in life. "Me" is awakening ourselves to recognize the uniqueness in who Christ created us to be no matter what others may see. It is understanding we were created in the likeness of Christ and He desires us to be 100% who He created us to be. "Me" is speaking our truth, claiming who we are, declaring even in our weakness there is so much strength in our Father.
I can almost see Mallary putting pen to paper as she wrote “Looking back at Me.” Fully authentic, she writes a song to her former self recounting vivid memories of a freckled face girl feeling lost and alone. With lyrics like “Don’t you dare believe the doubters who tell you it can’t be done” this is the song every mother wants her daughter to listen to.
“Home to the Water” is another one of my favorites. The song is a gentle pull back to Christ as we shuffle through the rough terrain of life. It reminds us He will never leave us and is always just a prayer away. I specifically love Mallary wrote the relationship as "daughter" when referencing Christ’s call to us women specifically.
With 17 songs of complete greatness “Out of My Hands” is the absolute perfect title for Mallary Hope’s newest album. You can tell there was a Divine power ordering her hands, her voice, and her heart throughout the entire process.
