The Perfect Carseat for Your Mid-size SUV featuring GRACO

We purchased our midsize vehicle when we were just a family of 4. My kids had plenty of room, no one touched one another, and they each got a cup holder. Everything was right in the world! Then as life often does, it changed. We got surprised with a new baby and overnight my mid size SUV seemed to shrink! We now maxed out our seating capacity! Three kids in one row? Talk about first world problems, right?? Immediately I wanted to upgrade our vehicle, but my husband reminded me that NOT having a car payment was a little more important than making sure our kids had enough arm room. Made sense.

But as all kids do, they started growing. At one point they were fighting over who got to sit next to the baby and now they complained that he was touching them. I knew I couldn’t control how long their legs and arms had gotten, but I could control the amount of space my little one took up in the car. Certainly I couldn’t be the only one with this problem and I thought maybe there was an smaller option available.

We’ve trusted the Graco brand with numerous car seats and strollers over the years so it was a no brainer to start on their site. My wish list included a more compact seat, yet I didn’t want to sacrifice safety. I also wanted something that was able to recline because Hollis often falls asleep in his seat. Last but definitely not least, I needed the seat to grow right along with him. Every mama knows there are few things worse than dropping $150 plus on a new car seat each year.

Right off the bat I noticed there were no shortage of 3-in-1 convertible car seats available on the Graco site! I think it is safe to say Graco has listened to the Mamas out there! Because of the convertible nature of those car seats the majority were also easily reclinable. While all of this was great, I still hadn’t found the one that crossed my main concern off the list — I needed more space!

And then I found it!

Graco SlimFit 3-in-1 car seat boasts a 10% slimmer body frame. BINGO! 5 point harness, rear facing up to 40lbs and forward facing up to 100lbs with a high back booster seat means my baby will stay safe and the seat will grow right along with him.

Once we installed the car seat I quickly noticed the versatility of reclining. There are 4 easily adjustable positions. Call me crazy, but I also loved that the strap covers were fixed with Velcro! Twisted straps are a nightmare and by making the strap covers easy to remove helps eliminate that inevitable pain of twisting! Not to mention easy to wash! I was concerned I would have to sacrifice cup holders, but Graco was smart and made them rotatable. If they aren’t in use you can easily life and spin them out of the way leaving more space on the sides of the carseat.

My older two are 11 and 12 and by no means are finished growing and neither is Hollis, but thanks to Graco and the Slimfit 3-in-1 car seat right now the backseat comfort level is at an all time high!
