With the weather turning to warm(ish) we decided to take advantage of the temps (and lack of rain) and get outside with the entire family.

We had a wonderful Saturday full of swings and cupcakes and lots of bubbles, but no date would be complete without food!

If I’m being honest we don’t do restaurants much with the whole family. Our two year old wonder Mr. Hollis is pretty much everywhere but the high chair and it makes me a bit anxious. Our preteens though think eating out is the only way to roll so I’m always on the hunt for family friendly places everyone will enjoy and little Hollis will be lovingly accepted by the other patrons!

Hot Diggity Dog was our lunch stop this weekend. I was immediately drawn to it because of the name! How could a fun name like Hot Diggity Dog NOT be family friendly?? Nestled in the heart of downtown this quaint, unassuming restaurant was our choice for an afternoon pit stop! We don’t live downtown so we did need the GPS to guide us there, however it was not difficult to find and parking was easy for a Saturday at 1:00. When we arrived there were two other families in front of us, however the staff was welcoming and immediately asked to take our order. We asked to take a minute to look over the menu since it was our first time and they happily told us their most popular items along with other options just in case we weren’t feeling the dogs. (We were all feeling the dogs though!!) They even have a “made to order” option where you can build your own dog or they will accommodate special requests. My daughter Elle wanted to try the sauerkraut but wasn’t sure she would like it, so they were more than happy to put the kraut on the side and even offered to add anything else to her dog should she happen to not like it. (She didn’t like the sauerkraut, but my husband loves it!)

We ordered the Nashville, Chicago, and New York Dogs with sides of cheese fries and onion rings and all was delivered directly to our table about 5 minutes after we found a table outside. Hot Diggity Dogserves all beef hot dogs with no fillers and also offers turkey and veggie dogs. Their menu serves hamburgers and chicken fingers so there is little bit of something for everyone no matter what your taste!

The dogs were a good size, definitely enough to fill up the kids and I. Nandor got two dogs and we all shared the sides. The meat and toppings all looked and tasted fresh. The onion rings were some of the best we’ve ever had here in Nashville! In fact we all remarked how closely in size they were to The Varsity back home in Atlanta. You can’t beat an onion ring where the breading actually stays on for each bite!!

There was a steady stream of customers in and out while we sat and ate our lunch. While this may have been our first time we could tell there were quite a few loyal patrons seated next to us! Hollis (as usual) meandered through the picnic tables in the outdoor seating area chasing birds with a french fry in hand and no one seemed to mind. Before we left the staff was kind enough to tell us thank you for stopping by.

Hot Diggity Dog was the perfect stop for our lunch break today as we were enjoying the day with our family in Nashville. The hot dogs were delicious, juicy and fully packed with fresh toppings and the service was quick and friendly. Also it must be noted their health score was 100.

If you are spending your day in Nashville and looking for a place to eat that has outdoor seating, is family friendly (for all ages of kids), and has delicious food, Hot Diggity Dog is a great choice!!
